Denise Pemberton RM, IBCLC
I have worked as a midwife since 1985 and qualified as a lactation consultant in 1999.
I have had varied experience in both hospital and community settings, and have always been keen to support other mothers with concerns and issues encountered while breastfeeding.
For the last seven years I held the specialist role of Infant Feeding Advisor at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham. This role involves supporting families where babies are born pre-term or are ill or needing to be in hospital for a variety of reasons. I have experience in supporting mothers feeding multiples, usually twins and triplets. It also involves situations where the feeding just needs a helping hand in the first few days until everyone gains confidence and strategies to tackle issues are developed.
Within my work in the NHS I have trained staff coming into contact with breastfeeding families and developed policies and guidelines around infant feeding.
I am familiar with and supportive of the work of the UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative.
I am married to Nigel and have two daughters, Zoe and Ellie.
I am also available for one-to-one consultations in your own home by appointment and can be contacted at www.feedingbaby.co.uk.
Area covered: Nottinghamshire; Derbyshire; Leicestershire.
